Good quality locally sourced food and real ale are served in the lounge bar. The hotel is listed in the 2008 Good Beer Guide and won CAMRA pub of the year 2009 for the Matlock and Dales District. Outside seating offers panoramic views of Matlock Bath. The hotel is non-smoking throughout.
The hotel dates back to the 1780’s and will have had numerous distinguished guests cross its threshold, including Lord Byron, who was so moved by his visit to Matlock Bath that he was inspired to etch a poem on the restaurant window.
